Selena Gomez turned heads in a dazzling retro chic dress as she stepped out for lunch in London this week. The 33-year-old singer evoked the Jazz Age in a long, sleek fitted number adorned with glittering fringe from top to bottom. She swept her hair back tightly to enhance the flapper effect, sharpened her features with striking makeup, and accessorized with drop earrings.
Lunch at Gymkhana
Her venue was Gymkhana, an Indian restaurant in Mayfair that weeks earlier hosted her friend Taylor Swift and Swift's fiancé Travis Kelce. Gomez has reportedly declined multiple requests to be a bridesmaid at Swift's wedding, as exclusively revealed by the Daily Mail.
Benny Blanco on Gomez's Diet
Gomez's outing comes after her husband Benny Blanco remarked that she "has the diet of a five year old child." During a taping of Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop Podcast in West Hollywood, Blanco said Gomez eats "whatever is bad for your diet." He cited burgers and fries as favorites and revealed she was eating Jack in the Box at 6:45 in the morning. Paltrow gasped, "This is NOT Goop approved!"
Blanco noted that the only healthy thing Gomez eats is Goop Kitchen, Paltrow's takeout chain. However, he admitted she doesn't like fruits or vegetables; she picks toppings off salads and leaves the greens for him. Despite her own Netflix cooking series, Selena + Chef, Gomez is known for poor eating habits.
Past Health Struggles
In 2011, she was hospitalized for malnourishment due to junk food. She loves M&Ms, Kit Kats, and Snickers at the movies. Her favorite chain is Jack in the Box, and she shared her order with Gordon Ramsay: two tacos, two egg rolls, curly fries, and a chicken sandwich. In 2016, she told Bon Appetit her tour bus was stocked with Hot Cheetos, chocolate, and pickles.
Despite her diet, Gomez has maintained her figure, though weight fluctuations have been linked to lupus, an autoimmune disease. In 2017, friend Francia Raisa donated a kidney to her. Gomez was at her heaviest in early 2023 but has since slimmed down by focusing on health, exercise, and love with Blanco.
Fitness and Cooking
Gomez has a home gym and personal trainer, favoring HIIT workouts and barre classes. She expressed frustration over weight scrutiny on the Jay Shetty podcast. Her cooking series ran for four seasons and spawned a Food Network spin-off. Blanco, a foodie, released a bestselling cookbook in 2024 titled Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends.
