The Pussycat Dolls have officially announced their reunion for a nine-date UK tour in April 2020, following months of speculation. The surprise was inadvertently revealed by X Factor judge Louis Walsh during a live TV interview, prompting laughter from lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, who said, 'Half the time, Louis doesn't even know what he's talking about, so I was just surprised he got that one right.'
Scherzinger will be joined by original members Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, and Jessica Sutta, but Melody Thornton is notably absent. The group disbanded in 2010 after just two albums, despite scoring UK number ones with 'Stickwitu' and 'Don't Cha'. Kimberly Wyatt explained the reunion as 'unfinished business' and noted that 'the stars aligned' after years of individual projects.
The Dolls have maintained strong ties to the UK, with Kimberly now living in London and Ashley appearing on reality shows like Strictly and I'm A Celebrity. Ashley said, 'LA was our home, but the UK was our second home because the British just scooped us up.' The group's biggest fanbase is in the UK, which influenced the decision to tour there first.
Melody Thornton's absence has been linked to past tensions over vocal distribution, with producer Ron Fair confirming that Scherzinger sang 95% of the group's vocals. Ashley Roberts stated, 'Mel's got a lot of projects going on... the door is always open, but it just wasn't the right timing for her right now.' Scherzinger dismissed suggestions of disharmony, saying, 'We get along, it's a sisterhood... bye drama! We want this to be really enjoyable for us.'
