Sarah Michelle Gellar's New Look Hints at Buffy Reboot

Fans have caught their first glimpse of Sarah Michelle Gellar on set for the upcoming reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The 48-year-old actress will reprise her role as Buffy Summers in the revival, which is in development at Hulu. Gellar also serves as executive producer on the project.

The original series ran for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003, following teenage vampire slayer Buffy as she battled supernatural foes. The revival will feature a new cast of young vampire hunters, with Gellar promising a balance between new and old characters. 'We will only make this show if we know we can do it right,' she said in an Instagram post earlier this year.

Photographed in Los Angeles, Gellar's Buffy sports a striking new look: a bright red top and matching skirt, paired with crimson stilettos and a pink bag. This marks a departure from the character's iconic 90s grunge style. Fans on social media expressed excitement, with one Reddit user writing, 'My 14 year old self is catatonic with excitement.'

Gellar revealed that talks for the reboot began three years ago after a meeting with director Chloé Zhao. Series creator Joss Whedon will have no involvement. The new cast includes Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Sunnydale's newest Slayer, alongside Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso, and Jack Cutmore-Scott.
