Netflix's basketball comedy series 'Running Point' has returned for a second season, and the third episode of the new installment carries a poignant tribute. The end card reads: 'In Loving Memory of #6 Niko Mijailovic.'
Niko Mijailovic was a 15-year-old boy from Los Angeles who died tragically. He was finishing eighth grade at the elite private school Campbell Hall and was a star varsity volleyball player, wearing the number 6 jersey.
During Mijailovic's memorial service, it was revealed that the last thing his family watched together was Season 1 of 'Running Point.' Friends of the family are connected to the show, and producers, moved by the story, decided to honour him with the end card, with the family's blessing.
'Running Point' is written and executive produced by Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and showrunner David Stassen. The series stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, who becomes president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball franchise after a scandal forces her brother to resign. The main cast also includes Justin Theroux, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman and Uche Agada. Warner Bros. TV is the studio.
