Wayne Rooney has named the ITV show he wouldn't do, and the one he'd love to appear on, amid rumours he's set to take part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here this year.
The football legend amassed 764 appearances and scored 313 goals, as well as earning 120 caps for England. With Manchester United, he won five Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy, amongst a total of 16 trophies.
He's currently being seen in a more normal light away from the football pitch in his and wife Coleen's new reality series. The Real Rooneys, on Disney+, sees Wayne spending more time taking on domestic duties alongside Coleen, as he carves out his new punditry career following his years playing professional football, before a brief managerial stint.
Wayne's TV ambitions
Speaking on the Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby, the latter said: "You've mentioned you might like to do The Masked Singer…" But Wayne replied: "No, I wouldn't do The Masked Singer, but I'd love to be a judge on The Voice."
He went on to tell the hosts: "They actually asked me– they were doing the opening a few years back at Old Trafford, so I'd mentioned I'd like to get involved and I love music but it's probably out of my zone but I said I'd love to be a judge. They came back and I got this email saying..."
Coleen interjected: "Would you like to be involved in The Voice?" to which Wayne replied: "Yeah, would you like to be involved in The Voice. So, I'm thinking I could be a judge!... It was to turn the lights on at the start at Old Trafford!" He added: "I said there's no chance! You can't even put me as a wing man or one of the guests on the side in a side car or something?"
Coleen's reality TV stance
Chris then asked: "So, you had it in your head that you were going in the chair? Or maybe having a sing-song?" to which Wayne said: "Yeah, no to be a judge. I love music! I love singing but I'm not very good at it."
Jordan then quizzed Coleen: "Coleen, are there any shows you'd like to be on?" to which she replied: "No, obviously I did the jungle, and that was the one I did say, if ever I do reality TV that would be the one. And year after year it wasn't the right time, and then I did it, and you know what? I loved doing it, and it's ticked a box."
"But no, I think at the minute I'm happy doing all the stuff I'm doing and [The Real Rooneys] took up a lot of time in the past year so we're going to see how this show goes and then decide whether we're going to continue to do another one. We'll see."
