Rihanna has finally ended her long-standing feud with Beyoncé, which reportedly spanned over two decades. The two music icons attended the Met Gala together with their partners, A$AP Rocky and Jay-Z, and later partied at Beyoncé and Jay-Z's after-party.
Rumours of a rift between the singers began when Rihanna was signed to Jay-Z's record label, Roc Nation. A former employee falsely claimed Rihanna had an affair with Jay-Z to boost her career, later admitting it was a reckless PR stunt. The feud intensified in 2016 when Beyoncé released her album 'Formation' just days after Rihanna's 'Anti', leading fans to speculate about competition.
Rihanna previously addressed the feud in a Vogue interview, stating that the public is too eager to see a rivalry between black women. She said, 'That's just not what I wake up to. Because I can only do me.' She also liked a social media post criticising the Grammys for snubbing 'Anti', but later clarified she only saw the picture and urged fans to stop pitting black women against each other.
At the Met Gala, Rihanna confirmed her plans to attend Beyoncé's after-party, telling the Hollywood Reporter, 'We're going to Beyoncé and Jay-Z's afterparty. Are you kidding? There's only one afterparty!' The pair spent the night celebrating together, marking a thaw in their relationship.
Rihanna is reportedly preparing for a major return to music and her first tour in a decade. She last toured in 2016 on the 'Anti World Tour' and performed at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show in 2023.
