Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys, 66, has married Lucie Rose, 35, in a £20,000 ceremony in Kingswear, Devon, despite a long-running family feud sparked by their relationship. The couple exchanged vows on a riverbank beside the River Dart, with Keys wearing a cream Hugo Boss suit and Rose in a stunning wedding gown.
The marriage comes seven years after Keys’ first wife Julia discovered intimate messages from Rose on his phone, ending their 36-year marriage. Julia, who was recovering from thyroid cancer at the time, said she was unaware of the wedding until receiving a text from Keys two hours before the ceremony. However, she later wished the couple well, stating: “If that’s what makes him happy then I’m happy for him.”
The relationship also caused a rift with Keys’ daughter Jemma, a former Hollyoaks actress, who was a friend of Rose. Jemma sent abusive text messages to Rose, leading to her arrest and a charge of harassment. Keys has insisted that Rose “was never my daughter’s friend – let alone her best friend. They met twice.” He also claimed that Rose decided not to pursue the case to avoid further harm.
Keys, who was sacked from Sky Sports in 2011 for derogatory comments about a female assistant referee, proposed to Rose two years ago. Speaking ahead of the wedding, he said: “I’m a very lucky man, although feeling a bit nervous... People think I might be a bit long in the tooth but I don’t care.”
