Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has denied allegations that he left his cancer-stricken wife for a friend of his daughter's. Keys, who was married to Julia for 36 years, has refuted claims that their marriage ended due to an affair with 28-year-old lawyer Lucie Jones.
In an interview with The Athletic, Keys stated: "Did I leave my wife fighting cancer? No. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know why our marriage ended the way it did, but my wife was fighting cancer for seven years before I left her and she had been in remission for seven years." He added that the repeated lie had "become the truth" on social media.
Keys' ex-wife Julia wrote in her book 'The MANScript' that the alleged affair "devastated" their two children, Jemma and Josh. She claimed Keys only admitted the affair two years later, after initially denying it and making her feel she was "going mad."
Keys currently works for beIN Sports in Qatar. He maintained that he did not engage in a "tit-for-tat" response to the allegations, but felt compelled to address the specific claim about leaving his wife during her cancer fight.
