Presley Gerber, son of Cindy Crawford, has been cremated just days after his suspected overdose in a rehabilitation facility. The 27-year-old was cremated at the Rose Family Funeral Home, with his ashes set to remain at his parents' home.
His official cause of death is still pending investigation. Police sources told The U.S. Sun that Presley died of a suspected overdose while in the recovery home. Arrangements are underway for his funeral, which is believed to take place in the coming week. The family is deciding between Forest Lawn or Malibu Presbyterian Church, according to TMZ.
Found Unresponsive in Santa Monica
Presley was found unresponsive last Sunday morning at a sober house in Santa Monica, California. He was declared dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services. He was pronounced dead at 9:45 am on Sunday, and as of Monday afternoon, an autopsy had been completed.
The rehab facility's website says its programme is located in a prime section of Los Angeles, inside a luxurious mansion. It features breathtaking views of the ocean and the city. The facility offers clients 24/7 onsite staff, chef-prepared meals, and an in-home movie theatre. It is unknown how long Gerber had been staying at the facility.
Family Statement and Tributes
Gerber's famous family, which also includes model and actress sister Kaia, released a statement after the tragic news, saying, "The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time."
The model had been candid about his struggles with addiction and mental health for years prior to his passing, and had even discussed experimenting with psychedelic drug therapy as part of his recovery efforts. In his last photographs taken just weeks before his death, Gerber beamed at the camera while standing in a verdant garden on Instagram. His famous parents and sister had been incredibly encouraging throughout his recovery process.
Crawford commented under the post: "You are a warrior! Walked thru fire to find yourself! So proud!" Sister Kaia wrote, "That's my brother I am so damn proud." In July, Crawford shared a birthday message for her cherished son, writing, "Happy birthday I'm so proud of the man you've become, but I'll always see you as my little boy! Love you."
