Phoebe Kay, daughter of Tess Daly and Vernon Kay, teased a new 'era' for her mother just hours before the couple announced their amicable separation. In a TikTok video posted on May 8, Phoebe and Tess lip-synced to Salt-N-Pepa's 'Shoop', with Phoebe captioning it: 'Mum's TikTok era pending?'.
The video showed the mother-daughter duo dancing together, with Phoebe pointing at Tess during the lyric 'brother, wanna thank your mother for a butt like that'. Fans reacted enthusiastically, calling them 'gorgeous' and 'iconic'. The post came shortly before Tess and Vernon released a joint statement confirming their split after nearly 23 years of marriage.
In their statement, the couple said they had made the decision to separate 'amicably' and that their priority remained being 'loving and supportive parents' to their daughters, Phoebe (21) and Amber (16). They emphasised that there were 'no other parties involved'.
Tess Daly, 57, recently stepped down from hosting Strictly Come Dancing after 21 years and was awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting in November 2025. Vernon Kay, 52, continues to present BBC Radio 2's mid-morning show.
