Pete Wicks has given a simple response when asked about the possibility of marrying his girlfriend Olivia Attwood. Speaking to Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart, Pete was asked by Amanda whether he was going to get down on one knee.
He responded: "Not anytime soon." Expanding on why their relationship works, Pete said: "No, Liv and I have known each other for a long time. It's amazing, she's like one of my best friends but also someone I really fancy."
Relationship timeline
Pete and Olivia have only been 'Instagram official' for a matter of months. The former Strictly Come Dancing star and his ex-Love Island girlfriend have known each other for almost a decade. Pete and Olivia reportedly met at an event in London in 2017.
But their relationship stepped up a level when Olivia split from her footballer partner, Bradley Dack, earlier this year. After months of rumours Pete confirmed their relationship in July when he posted pictures of the pair on holiday together in Ibiza.
According to Pete, this is the first time in a decade that he has gone 'Instagram official' with a girlfriend. But it might be too early for wedding bells, reports the Daily Mirror.
From friends to more
The former TOWIE star went on to describe what has moved their relationship from friends to more than friends this year.
He said: "This year we started spending more time together. You see each other at events and stuff and whatever else and we always got one, but we started spending more time together this year and that was it. I've gone all in."
Olivia was with Gillingham star Bradley for more than a decade before splitting at the start of this year. It was thought the pair married in the summer of 2023, but after they split Olivia confirmed their ceremony wasn't legally binding.
The Pee-Wee nickname
An ability to laugh at each other can be crucial in relationships, and Pete and Olivia sound like they have that down to a tee if one anecdote is to go by. Jamie mentioned that he saw Olivia call Pete by the nickname Pee-Wee on her Instagram. Pete, 37, explained the story behind it.
He said: "So Pee-Wee started with her sister. We were on holiday in St Tropez a couple of months ago with her sister and her sister's husband. And her sister started calling me PeeWee and she knows I hate it, so now it's just Pee-Wee at every opportunity. It's just not great for a nearly 40 year old man to be called Pee-Wee, let's be honest. Everyone thinks it's very odd."
Amanda Holden also gushed about their romance, saying: "He's walking her dogs, that's big. He's picking her dog's poo up, that's even bigger."
