Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has said her wedding to professional footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was “the best day of my life.”
The 32-year-old singer also revealed that she partied alongside her former bandmates Leigh Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall after the “beautiful” ceremony.
The couple, who have been together since 2017 and engaged since June 2022, exchanged vows at an intimate wedding in Faro, Portugal on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to British Vogue, Edwards described the event as “the best day of my life – up there with the births of my children,” and said her dress “couldn’t have been more perfect.”
She added that the wedding almost did not go to plan, and said: “Alex gave me a diamond necklace after I gave birth to (our first child) Axel and I wear it every single day, but the day before I came away to Portugal it went missing.
“I cried all day, we looked everywhere – we even checked the hoover – but it was gone. I was convinced someone had stolen it.”
Edwards revealed that her hair stylist found the necklace tangled in her hair ahead of the ceremony, and said: “I sobbed. I was so happy and so relieved. It set the tone.
“I knew from that moment it was gonna be the best day ever.”
Edwards reflected on walking down the aisle, and said: “Alex isn’t a crier – he doesn’t get emotional that often.
“But when he turned around at the altar and saw me for the first time, we both just cried our eyes out.
“I thought: I’ll never forget this moment right here. It was beautiful. I’ve never experienced a room so full of love.”
The fashion magazine shared a series of snaps from the ceremony revealing her extravagant lace wedding gown, which Edwards described as “classic and timeless.”
The wedding comes months after the newlyweds welcomed the latest addition to their family, daughter Alanis Valentine, who was born in January.
They also have a son, Axel, who was born in August 2021.
Reflecting on this, Edwards said: “It’s been a whirlwind!
“I have a brand new baby, she’s just five months. It was so special to have her there in her little dress.”
The star also revealed that she took to the dancefloor at the end of the night alongside her fellow Little Mix stars, Pinnock and Thirlwall.
Edwards said their chart-topping hit Wings was played during the party, and recounted dancing alongside Pinnock, saying: “We were absolutely going off to En Vogue.
“We still remembered all of our harmonies and the choreography!”
Edwards rose to fame after winning The X Factor in 2011 with the pop group Little Mix, which also included singer Jesy Nelson.
The group have since gone on to have five UK number one singles and one UK number one album.
After Nelson left the band in December 2020, the group continued to perform as a trio until they went on a hiatus in 2022.
She has since launched her solo career, performing under the stage name Perrie, and released new music including Forget About Us, Tears and You Go Your Way.
Edwards released her debut solo album last year.
