Perrie Edwards Reveals Heartbreaking Miscarriage At 22 Weeks

Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has spoken publicly for the first time about the grief of miscarriage, revealing she lost a baby at 24 weeks following an earlier pregnancy loss. The 32-year-old singer, who welcomed son Axel with fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2021, described the heartbreak of losing two pregnancies.

In a candid interview on Paul C. Brunson's podcast We Need to Talk, Edwards recalled her first miscarriage early in her first pregnancy. 'I started bleeding not long after and I went to the hospital and I had the scan and they were like, “There's no baby.”' She admitted being alone at the appointments.

Edwards described her pregnancy with Axel as 'one of the happiest times' of her life, though she remained anxious until each scan confirmed everything was normal. A year later, while rehearsing for Little Mix's farewell tour, she discovered she was pregnant again.

However, at a 22-week scan, doctors alluded to complications. 'That was just the worst day of my life,' she said. 'I've never experienced an out-of-body experience where everything goes in slow motion.' She added: 'We basically lost the baby at like 24 weeks.'

The singer described the pain of a later-term loss as 'really hard', explaining how difficult it was to tell family and friends after preparing for another child. 'Nobody knows other than immediate friends and family,' she said.

Edwards' decision to speak openly adds her voice to a growing number of public figures breaking the silence around miscarriage and baby loss. If you have been affected by this story, advice and support can be found at Sands (0808 164 3332).
