Newlyweds Perrie Edwards and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain appeared utterly smitten just moments after tying the knot in Portugal. The blissful pair said their vows this weekend at an intimate Catholic church in Quinta do Lago, a picturesque corner of the Algarve, four years after he proposed.
A Low-Key Affair
After the ceremony, the Little Mix star and Celtic footballer, both 32, stepped out hand-in-hand, grinning from ear to ear as they struck poses outside the breathtaking venue. The bride was spotted holding a bouquet of white calla lilies, which she raised triumphantly as guests erupted in celebration. The groom cut a sharp figure in his black dinner jacket despite the sweltering heat, as they positioned themselves beside their wedding transport, a classic white Mercedes convertible.
The celebrity duo chose an understated affair, with only 70 guests in attendance before entertaining their dearest family and friends at the nearby Parrilla Natural restaurant, one of the most breathtaking locations in the Algarve.
Family Occasion
The gorgeous nuptials come just five months after Perrie, who also has a son called Axel with the former England midfielder, welcomed their second child, daughter Alanis Valentine. Sources reveal Axel had a special part to play during the service, adding extra significance to the family occasion.
Perrie's Little Mix bandmate, Jade Thirlwall, had to skip the big day due to her commitment at the Primavera festival on Saturday. It remains unclear whether Leigh-Anne Pinnock joined in the celebrations, which included a number of Alex's former teammates such as ex-Arsenal footballer Carl Jenkinson and Fulham's Harrison Reed.
Relationship Journey
Perrie has been romantically involved with the former Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder since 2017, and they got engaged in 2022. During an open discussion on the We Need To Talk podcast with Paul C Brunson, Perrie also disclosed that she had suffered two miscarriages, one before the birth of her son and another afterwards.
Speaking about their relationship, she said: "I just love how calm he is, and how understanding he is, and how caring and thoughtful he is. I just feel safe with Alex. I feel just content and happy."
A post shared in June 2022 gave fans a glimpse into the sports star's romantic proposal. The singer flaunted her engagement ring as she announced: "Last night the love of my life got down on one knee and I said... YES!"
The couple regularly share snippets from their blissful life together on Instagram, but have yet to officially announce their marriage on their social media platforms.
Perrie's Career
Perrie shot to fame after winning The X Factor in 2011 with the pop group, and they went on to score five UK number one singles and a UK number one album. Jesy Nelson parted ways with the band in December 2020; the remaining members continued to perform as a trio until they took a break in 2022 to concentrate on solo projects.
