Penny Lancaster has playfully declared herself the oldest woman her husband, Sir Rod Stewart, has ever slept with. In a candid interview with Woman&Home magazine, the 54-year-old reflected on their 26-year relationship, noting that when they first met in 1999, the oldest woman Rod had been with was around 30. Now, she says, 'I’m the oldest woman Rod’s ever slept with – and that happened a long time ago.'
Lancaster recalled the early days of their romance, describing how Rod wooed her during a tour of his Victorian Pre-Raphaelite art collection at his Essex home. She momentarily reclined on his four-poster bed, and the rock icon leaned down for an 'upside-down kiss' that turned her 'whole body to jelly'. She added that the kiss 'still works to this day' and makes it feel like the first time.
The couple, who married in June 2007, have faced occasional rumours of discord, including claims last August that they disagreed over living in the US or UK. Rod denied the allegations on social media, stating they 'could not be more in love'. Lancaster admitted they argue about 'usual stuff' like parenting, but emphasised that Rod always apologises and teaches their sons the importance of saying sorry.
Despite Rod turning 80 this year, Lancaster described his boundless energy, saying, 'I can’t keep up with my husband – it’s hard to believe Rod’s 80!' She noted that retirement is not on his lips, and she had to schedule family time around his constant work commitments. Lancaster, a regular panellist on Loose Women and a special constable for the City of London Police, has also just finished her memoir, Someone Like Me, due for release later this month.
