Paul Flack, the brother of late Love Island presenter Caroline Flack, died aged 55 earlier this month. His final social media post, made six years ago, was a heartbreaking tribute to his sister.
Paul Flack's death and final tribute
Paul was found unresponsive at his home in Norwich on June 21. Despite efforts to save him, his death was confirmed at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. He is survived by his partner and their two children. Norfolk police confirmed: "Next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course." An inquest into his death was opened on Monday at Norfolk Coroner's Court.
In his final Instagram post, shared in 2020 shortly after Caroline's death, Paul posted a smiling photo of Caroline as a child. He captioned it: "This will be my last post here. May those who know feel shame for eternity. Love you Caroline x." The post was flooded with messages of condolence, with one user writing: "Rest in peace Paul, reunited with Caroline now."
Caroline Flack's tragic death
Caroline Flack, who hosted Love Island and The X Factor, died by suicide on February 15, 2020, at age 40. She took her own life after learning that prosecutors had decided to proceed with an assault charge following an incident involving her fiancé Lewis Burton in December 2019. Coroner Mary Hassell determined that Flack "knew she was being prosecuted and couldn't face the scrutiny which would follow the trial."
Family's grief and criticism of authorities
Caroline and Paul's mother, Christine, spoke in a Disney+ documentary last year about the events leading to Caroline's death. She described losing her daughter as "the worst thing in the world" and said: "Another lonely year has passed. I missed you just as much today as the day you left. I'm doing my very best to tell the world what some awful people drove you to." Christine criticized police and prosecutors, claiming they targeted Caroline due to her celebrity status and "had it in for her."
Paul was one of Caroline's three siblings, alongside identical twin Jody (known as Jo) and older sister Elizabeth.
