Selena Gomez has revealed that her close friend Taylor Swift and Swift's mother, Andrea, were moved to tears when they first heard her new music. The 27-year-old singer shared the emotional moment during an appearance on KISS Breakfast on Tuesday morning.
Gomez explained that she played tracks from her upcoming third studio album, Rare, for Swift and her family at Swift's home. 'She played it and her and her mum just started crying. Just tears and tears,' Gomez said. 'It wasn't just about how great the song was, which is a lot coming from her. It was just that they had been on that journey with me intimately and they were crying because of how proud they were for me stepping into a whole new era of my life.'
The singer, who has been friends with Swift for over a decade, noted that the tears were ones of pride, as she has moved away from 'abuse and emotional chaos' in her life. Gomez described the experience as 'one of the coolest experiences' and a 'huge sigh of relief' to see her friend and her mother's reaction.
Gomez and Swift first met in 2008 when they were both dating Jonas Brothers members, and have since maintained a strong friendship, supporting each other through personal and professional milestones.
