Will Smith poses with ex-wife Sheree Zampino after Oscars slap incident

Will Smith appeared in high spirits as he posed for a photo with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino shortly after slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. The 53-year-old actor won his first Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in King Richard later that evening.

Sheree, 54, shared the image on Instagram, showing Smith with his arm around her as she held his Oscar. She captioned the post: 'Epic Night! Congratulations again – when 1 wins we all win! #family1st.' The pair were married from 1992 to 1995 and have a son, Trey, 29.

The photo was taken at Elton John’s Oscar bash in West Hollywood. Sheree also posted a video of the family watching the ceremony, including Smith’s children Jaden, 23, and Willow, 21, with his current wife Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris.

The slap occurred after Rock joked about Jada’s shaved head, referencing GI Jane. Jada has alopecia, which causes hair loss. Smith then shouted at Rock to keep his wife’s name out of his mouth. He later apologised to the Academy in his acceptance speech and issued a full apology the next day.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Rock has not filed charges. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced a formal review of the incident, stating they 'condemn the actions of Mr. Smith' and will explore further consequences under their bylaws and California law.
