Olivia Wilde has broken her silence on her past romance with Harry Styles, revealing that the public reaction to their relationship 'really upset people.' The actress and director, 42, spoke candidly about dating the singer, who is 10 years her junior, during an appearance on the podcast Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper.
Public Reaction to Age Gap
Wilde, who directed Styles in her 2022 film Don't Worry Darling, said that people were 'f**king p**sed' about their relationship, which began in 2020 when Styles was 26. 'It really did upset people,' she said. 'It was crazy. I don't know how much I understand it yet. That's one of the factors that I never really felt like I fully... I don't know, people were f**king p**sed.'
She described the public response as somewhat 'parasocial' but emphasized that the actual relationship was 'so beautiful.' Wilde added, 'It's wild because we had the loveliest relationship. Like so, so sweet and so beautiful and like really, actually very domestic and kind and lovely. I think that we existed in this little bubble and the judgement never really got into that bubble, which was a miracle and a testament to us making that happen.'
Relationship Timeline
Wilde and Styles dated from 2020 to 2022, following her divorce from Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, with whom she shares two children, Otis and Daisy. After their breakup, both remained tight-lipped about the split, though Wilde previously told Vogue that it was 'tempting to correct a false narrative.'
'But I think what you realise is that when you're really happy, it doesn't matter what strangers think about you. All that matters to you is what's real, and what you love, and who you love,' she said at the time.
Harry Styles' Current Relationship
Wilde's comments come as Styles, now 32, is reportedly engaged to actress Zoë Kravitz, 37. The pair were first romantically linked in August 2025, and in April 2026, Kravitz was seen wearing a diamond ring while sharing a kiss with Styles in London, sparking engagement rumors. A source confirmed to People that the couple is engaged, having shared the news with a 'small circle' of friends and loved ones.
Kravitz joined Styles' mother, Anne, to watch the former One Direction star open his Wembley Stadium residency last Friday. Styles is set to break the record for the most performances by any artist in a single year at Wembley, surpassing Coldplay's 10 shows last year and Taylor Swift's record for the most concerts by a solo artist during a single run at the venue.
Intimate London Gig
Styles recently performed an intimate gig at London's Royal Festival Hall with the Jules Buckley Orchestra, where he was seen gazing at Kravitz and giving her a small salute during one song. The concert was part of his ongoing Wembley Stadium residency, which has captivated fans worldwide.
