Olivia Munn has spoken about the crucial support she received from her husband, comedian John Mulaney, following her breast cancer diagnosis in April 2023. The 45-year-old actor was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer, leading to a double mastectomy, ovariectomy, and partial hysterectomy.
In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Munn described Mulaney as “the best person in the world” and highlighted how he attended every medical appointment with a notebook for jotting down ideas. She credited his humour with helping her maintain a positive outlook throughout her treatment.
Munn discovered she had Luminal B cancer, an aggressive form, after taking a free online Lifetime Risk Assessment test, despite having no symptoms or family history. She underwent four surgeries, including a 10-hour procedure, and is grateful the cancer was caught early enough to allow treatment options.
In a March 2024 Instagram post announcing her diagnosis, Munn thanked Mulaney for researching treatments and side effects, and for placing photos of their son Malcolm in her hospital room. The couple, who began dating in 2021 and married in 2024, have two children: Malcolm, 4, and daughter Mei Mei, who turns two this autumn.
