A brand new Irish bar called Paddy's is set to open in the North East town of Morpeth, perfectly timed for the start of the 2026 World Cup. The bar will launch on Thursday, June 11, just hours before the tournament kicks off with host nation Mexico facing South Africa.

Opening Day Entertainment
On the opening day, live music from local performer Monty Reed will begin at 6pm, followed by the televised match between Mexico and South Africa. More music is planned after the final whistle. The following day, Friday, June 12, will feature a performance by Sonny Doyle at 9.15pm.
World Cup Context
The 2026 World Cup, hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico, features 48 teams. Favourites include Spain, France, and Brazil, while England aims to recover from their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain by starting strong against Croatia. Scotland is the only other Home Nation participating, with no Irish team in the tournament.
