Actress Nina Dobrev and Olympic snowboarder Shaun White have ended their relationship after five years together, according to a new report. The couple, who became engaged in October 2024, have reportedly split, though the reason for the breakup remains unclear. Sources indicate the decision was difficult, but the pair remain amicable. Neither Dobrev nor White, nor their representatives, have commented publicly, and their last public sighting together was in September 2025.
Dobrev, 36, and White, 39, met at a motivational workshop in late 2019 and began dating quietly. They confirmed their romance in February 2020 when Dobrev was filming Redeeming Love in South Africa and invited White to join her. After four years of dating, White proposed in October 2024, with Dobrev believing she was attending a dinner with Anna Wintour. The engagement was announced on Instagram, garnering over 6.1 million likes.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed signs of trouble before the split. The engagement post was no longer pinned to the top of Dobrev's Instagram profile. Additionally, at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Eternity on 7 September 2025, Dobrev was seen without her five-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond engagement ring. Just days earlier, she had been photographed with White in Los Angeles, wearing the ring prominently.
In March 2025, Dobrev told E! News that the couple were not rushing wedding planning due to their busy schedules. 'We're just enjoying being engaged at this point,' she said, adding that she wanted to 'enjoy it and not rush that process.' She noted that she had never dreamed of a specific wedding and aimed to make it 'as low-impact as possible.'
