Nicole Kidman and Simon Baker romance rumours leave ex-wife 'shocked and confused'

Rebecca Rigg, the ex-wife of actor Simon Baker, is reportedly 'shocked and confused' by ongoing rumours that he is romantically involved with his Scarpetta co-star Nicole Kidman. Rigg, 58, was married to Baker from 1998 to 2020 and is a close childhood friend of Kidman, having grown up in the same area of Sydney.

An insider told New Idea magazine that Rigg is unhappy that neither Kidman nor Baker has reached out to her regarding the speculation, which intensified after the pair held hands on the red carpet at the Scarpetta premiere. 'She loves Nicole like a sister, they've been through so much over the years so it's extremely shocking for her to get her head round this,' the source said.

The source added that many mutual friends assume the hand-holding was a publicity stunt for the show, but the couple's evasiveness about their status and the time they are spending together is lending credibility to the rumours. 'For Nicole to act all coy is really breaking the girl code,' the insider said.

Rigg is not the only one left reeling; Kidman's ex-husband Keith Urban is also said to be blindsided. A source told Woman's Day that seeing Kidman and Baker holding hands was 'the equivalent of seeing his best mate with his missus' and has done a number on him. Urban, 58, is reportedly devastated by how quickly Kidman appears to be moving on from their separation last year.

Kidman and Baker, who play a married couple in the Amazon Prime series Scarpetta, were seen holding hands and beaming at the New York premiere on March 3. Kidman has described their chemistry as 'just vibrating', while Baker cheekily said, 'I don't kiss and tell'. In January, it was reported that Kidman's friends, including Naomi Watts, were encouraging her to date Baker after her divorce.
