Fans are convinced that Molly-Mae Hague teased her baby son's unique name weeks ago through the colour of her new car. The Love Island star and fiancé Tommy Fury ended the baby-name wait this weekend, confirming the birth of their second child last week but keeping the name a closely-guarded secret.
Tommy Fury Reveals Baby Name After Boxing Victory
The boxer was given the nod to reveal Midas to the world, walking out with the new arrival's name on his outfit before fighting former world's strongest man Eddie Hall. He said after victory in the ring: "This is for my new baby boy son, Midas. It's another Fury and it's another boy." He later pulled on an England football shirt emblazoned with Midas on the back.
Despite Molly-Mae insisting before the announcement that everyone would hate it, many of her fans are on board with the cute name. She also teased it was "unusual" and often pronounced wrong. Midas originates from a legendary Greek king famous for having the ability to turn everything he touched into gold.
Fans Spot Clue in Molly-Mae's Car Purchase
However, fans have questioned whether she had previously teased the choice in a rogue way, pointing out a clue that many had missed. On YouTube, she revealed she had purchased a new car - a completely gold Mercedes-Benz G-Class after getting rid of her brown G-Wagon. Debating the reveal on TikTok, one fan pointed out: "She gave us the biggest clue with the gold car."
Molly-Mae discussed the importance of the baby-naming process in a vlog, telling fans: "In my opinion, you get one opportunity to name your child something that is going to make them be remembered by. There was so much controversy around Bambi's name but, thank God, because I wanted to give Bambi a name people are going to remember and that no one else in her classroom was going to have. What I'm so triggered by, in my class, there were three Mollys and we were all best friends… I really think it's an opportunity for you to set your kid apart. I think they'll appreciate it, it's a conversation starter."
Fan Reactions to the Name Midas
Fans were quick to respond after the news broke of Midas' name. A social media user even said the name could have been inspired by the Fortnite character. One wrote: "One thing you have to say about the Fury family is that they really know how to name their babies. Tyson. Venezuela. Roman. Bambi. Midas. A generational run." Another cheered: "Midas. I really like that, all children are a gift and I hope that the little fella lives up to his name." A commenter said: "Midas Fury, very interesting not the worst they could've absolutely called him Thumper." Referring to the live stream, a follower joked: "£15 for the name to be Midas I give up."
