Millie Mackintosh has revealed she enlisted the help of a child specialist to manage her daughter's separation anxiety amid her divorce from Hugo Taylor. The 36-year-old former Made in Chelsea star shared the challenges she faced with four-year-old Aurelia, who began throwing 'scary' tantrums and refusing to attend nursery.
In a candid social media video, Millie explained that the trouble began after Aurelia's nursery closed last Christmas, leaving her without childcare for half a term. When a new nursery was found, Aurelia struggled with the transition, leading to daily meltdowns that included crying, kicking, and even running away from her buggy.
Millie, who shares daughters Sienna, six, and Aurelia, four, with Hugo, described the ordeal as 'really scary'. She admitted that the situation reached a crisis point last month, when she stopped sending Aurelia to nursery altogether for a week, which only made matters worse.
Seeking professional advice, Millie was guided by a child specialist to use specific calming phrases and maintain a consistent routine. Despite the difficulty of physically carrying her daughter to nursery while she screamed, the method proved effective after four days. 'On the fifth day, she woke up and said she wanted to go to nursery. It was the biggest relief,' Millie said.
The couple, who married in 2018, announced their separation in February. Millie noted she had held back from speaking publicly until she felt she was through the worst of the emotional turmoil.
