Michelle Keegan is reportedly feeling torn between staying at home with her four-month-old daughter Palma and returning to work, as she faces a wave of lucrative job offers. The former Coronation Street actress, who gave birth in March, has been approached for a six-figure deal with Sky alongside Idris Elba, according to a source.
The 38-year-old has been tipped for Hollywood stardom after her acclaimed role in Netflix's Fool Me Once, but now faces a dilemma familiar to many parents. 'Michelle has always been a hard worker, so she's torn between staying at home with Palma and getting back out there,' a source told OK! magazine. 'It's not an easy industry – you're self-employed so you never know when your next job might be.'
Keegan recently shared photos of herself having hair and make-up done for a mystery project, wearing linen trousers and a top reading 'Copacabana'. This could be her first major professional commitment since becoming a mother. However, parenting expert Joy Randolph said her feelings are 'completely normal' for new mothers, describing it as 'the reality of being a working mother today'.
The Sky deal is seen as a way for Keegan to 'dip her toe back in the water', as her comedy series Brassic wraps after seven seasons. The source added: 'She knows she won't get this time back with Palma, but it's hard saying 'no' when you're in demand.' Her husband, former TOWIE star Mark Wright, has been supportive, returning to his Heart FM radio show just days after Palma's birth.
Keegan's career has soared since Coronation Street, with lead roles in Our Girl, Brassic, and Ten Pound Poms. Her performance in Fool Me Once made her a global hit and sparked rumours of roles in the US. The couple recently enjoyed Palma's first holiday abroad in Spain, staying at the SO/Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort.
