Serena Williams has described Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as each other's 'best, best, best friends' in the couple's new Netflix documentary series. The tennis star, 41, appeared in the third episode, which focuses on the run-up to their 2018 wedding.
Williams, who was also the first guest on Meghan's Archetypes podcast, expressed her joy at seeing her friend in love. 'I'm looking at it through the lens of my friend, not a princess,' she said. 'They as a couple are so tight. And rely on each other so much... I was just super excited.'
The documentary also features a childhood friend of Harry's, known only as 'Nicky', who said it was 'evident' the couple were 'really, really in love'. The episode offers an intimate look at the preparations for the wedding, which took place in May 2018 and was attended by numerous Hollywood stars.
The release of the documentary has prompted mixed reactions from the Royal Family. Sources indicate that King Charles and Prince William are prepared to respond 'swiftly and robustly' to any unjust claims, though William and Kate are not expected to watch the series themselves.
