During a 2022 visit to Princess Diana's grave at Althorp House, Meghan Markle prayed for two things: clarity and guidance, according to Prince Harry's memoir Spare. The couple, now based in California, had returned to Britain for one of their two joint visits that year.
Details of the Visit
Harry wrote in his memoir that the visit marked the 25th anniversary of Diana's death and was Meghan's first time at the grave. He described placing flowers and speaking to his mother, then giving Meghan privacy. When he returned, she was kneeling with her eyes shut and palms against the stone. She later told him she had prayed for clarity and guidance.
Upcoming UK Trip
Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, are set to travel to the UK next month for the Duke of Sussex to attend the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games. The event is scheduled between July 10 and 17. It remains unclear if their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will accompany them or visit Diana's grave.
Althorp House's website indicates the estate will be closed on July 10 and 11, which falls during its limited summer opening dates (July 1 to August 31). This has fueled speculation that Harry may take his children to Diana's resting place. The couple have reportedly been offered a royal residence for their stay, though acceptance and security arrangements are unconfirmed.
Context
Princess Diana died in August 1997 at age 36. Harry was 12 at the time. The Sussexes have not traveled to the UK together since 2022.
