Meghan Markle Branded 'Sulky' by Onlooker Before Megxit

In a new blow, Meghan Markle was branded 'sulky' by an onlooker who recalled meeting the Duchess of Sussex just months before her infamous departure from the UK as a working member of the Royal Family. Prior to their exit, one Reddit user shared their experience of meeting the Netflix star, who was due to succeed Queen Elizabeth as a patron of an unnamed cancer charity. However, they were left unimpressed after Meghan was said to have 'sulked' after she wasn't granted permission for a photo opportunity.

The user shared: 'Before 2020, planning had already started for the succession of Patronages once the Queen passed on, and it was suggested that Madam (Meghan) may want to take us on, a charity with children and families at its centre is a good look! So she came for a visit.' The redditor explained: 'These Royal visits are really important as big donors want meet and greets, we get a year's worth of press and publicity and the staff and the families we support have a great day, we get donations for catering and funfair equipment, and it's a party.'

The Redditor claimed: 'She sulked when we told her team she couldn't have a photo op hugging the children and didn't want a sit-down to talk to the mums about their experiences. My colleague wheeled me (I'm in a wheelchair) in the line for the meet and greet, and when I was introduced (I have a gender neutral first name) and our CEO explained my big patent, she reached over me to shake his hand and completely ignored me.' They continued: 'When he explained I was the genius (his words), she just said 'oh' and walked off. Our CEO was gobsmacked at her rudeness, and the Palace was so apologetic. Anyway, we got someone else. They're brilliant and have an amazing sense of humour.'

Although the charity seemed to go in a different direction, Meghan, who had been the royal patron of the National Theatre and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), handed the roles back to Queen Elizabeth after 'Megxit'. In 2022, the then-Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, took on the patronage of the National Theatre, adding her already broad portfolio of arts and theatre causes. While King Charles became the patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities in 2024, following the late monarch's tragic death. At the time of her death, Queen Elizabeth was still patron of 492 organisations, while King Charles held 441 and Queen Camilla 100.
