McGill's Buses, a Greenock-based transport company, has paid a unique tribute to Scotland midfielder John McGinn by temporarily rebranding one of its vehicles as 'McGinn's' for the 2026 World Cup. The creative gesture celebrates Scotland's return to the tournament for the first time in 28 years.
Bus Rebranded to Show Support
The specially branded Yutong E12 electric bus now operates on the N6 route between Glasgow city centre and Clydebank. The playful name change aims to honor both Scotland's qualification and McGinn, one of the squad's most beloved players. McGill's shared footage on TikTok with the soundtrack 'No Scotland No Party', captioning it: "From McGill's to McGinn's. Backing Scotland every mile of the way."
Fan Reactions
The video quickly went viral, amassing over 13,000 likes. Supporters praised the move, with comments like "Go on McGill's buses" and "That's fantastic." Some fans also engaged in light-hearted banter, joking about the company's reputation. The tribute proved especially fitting as McGinn later scored the winning goal in Scotland's World Cup opener against Haiti on June 13, earning hero status.
Company Statement
Group Service Delivery Director Colin Napier explained: "Scotland reaching the World Cup is something the whole country can celebrate, and we wanted to mark the occasion in a way that would get people smiling. John McGinn has become one of the real faces of this Scotland team. He plays with heart, humour and total commitment, so turning one of our buses into 'McGinn's' felt like the perfect tribute."
Family Reaction
McGinn's brother Stephen welcomed the gesture, noting: "John would probably be equal parts proud and embarrassed to see a bus named after him, but it is brilliant and sums up the excitement everyone is feeling about Scotland getting to the World Cup. He has always given absolutely everything for Scotland and the support from fans means a huge amount to him and the players."
