John Torode was forced to intervene during Thursday's episode of Celebrity MasterChef after contestant Ashley Cain made a critical error. The reality TV star, competing for a place in the semi-final, mistakenly placed his salmon in an unheated oven, leaving it raw.
Ashley, alongside rugby legend Alun Wyn Jones, singer Alfie Boe, and comedian Noreen Khan, faced a series of challenges. Initially, teamwork with Alun went well, but the individual challenge proved disastrous when Ashley opted for teriyaki salmon with noodles and pak choi.
With four minutes left, Grace Dent alerted Ashley to the time. He rushed to the oven only to discover his fish was in the wrong appliance. John Torode quickly assessed the situation and instructed Ashley to pan-fry the salmon in a wok, urging him to work fast.
The chaos prompted John to bury his face in his hands, while Grace asked, 'What have you done to John?' A remorseful Ashley apologised, but John encouraged him, saying, 'Come on Ashley, you've done harder things.'
Despite the blunder, Ashley completed his dish within the extended time and secured his place in the final. The episode highlighted the high-pressure environment of the BBC cooking competition.
