Fans of The Masked Singer believe they have identified the performer behind the Can of Worms costume as JLS singer and television presenter Marvin Humes. The theory, which has gained momentum on Reddit, is based on eight clues that viewers say point to the former X Factor star.
One clue featured a yellow step in a garden marked 'naughty step', which fans linked to Humes discussing the parenting technique in interviews. Another reference to being an 'early bird' and visuals of pastries were interpreted as nods to Humes and his wife Rochelle's regular appearances on morning television.
The phrase 'written in the stars' was also highlighted, as JLS collaborated with Tinie Tempah on the song 'Eyes Wide Shut', while Tinie released a hit titled 'Written in the Stars'. Additionally, images of Top Gear presenters James May and Richard Hammond were shown, with fans noting their initials 'MH' match Marvin Humes's initials.
Gardening references, including a can of worms in greenery, were said to nod to the colour green associated with Humes's JLS branding. A courgette at a public event was linked to Humes hosting the 2016 BAFTA Children's Awards, where the film 'My Life as a Courgette' won Best Animated Feature.
The final clue, about something 'running in the family', was interpreted as a reference to Humes's bond with his JLS bandmates, whom he has described as brothers. However, some fans suggest the costume could be hiding JB Gill, another JLS member, while others have floated names like Reggie Yates, Olly Murs, and Mark Owen.
