King Charles' 'Hot Equerry' Jonny Thompson Welcomes Baby Daughter

Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, widely known as the 'hot equerry', has become a father for the second time. He and his wife Olivia welcomed a baby girl named Theodora on May 20, 2026, as announced in The Times births section. The name Theodora is of Greek origin, meaning 'gift from God'.

The couple married in May 2025 at St Mary's Church in Wiltshire, followed by a reception at Olivia's parents' home. Olivia is the daughter of Simon Lewis, a former communications secretary to Queen Elizabeth II and later director of communications for Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Jonny was previously married to marketing manager Caroline Thompson, with whom he has a son; they separated in 2022.

The happy news comes weeks after Jonny was thrust back into the spotlight during King Charles' US visit. At the King's Trust Gala in New York City in May 2026, lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart shared a photo of him on social media, captioning it: 'Can't believe I got this close to the 'hot equerry' Johnny Thompson... Totally charming, completely cool, exceedingly handsome.'

Jonny, a member of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, first gained viral fame in 2022 after videos circulated following Queen Elizabeth II's death. He later stepped back from public-facing duties due to media attention. He joined the army in 2006 and has served as the late Queen's senior bodyguard before becoming a Super Equerry to King Charles, responsible for planning and executing the monarch's daily duties.
