The 35-year-old participant admitted that she has only recently begun to process how this traumatic experience has profoundly affected her adult life and relationships.
Confronting Past Trauma and Its Effects
Speaking candidly to Woman's Day, Bec explained that the childhood abuse has irrevocably changed her, creating a persistent need to prove her worth. 'I was told I was ugly and that I'd never find a man who'd love me,' she revealed to the publication. 'When something happens to you that young, it changes how you see yourself. I've spent most of my adult life trying to prove I'm good enough.'
During her time on Married At First Sight, both fellow cast members and viewers have questioned Bec's sometimes explosive behaviour, particularly during the third dinner party where she launched multiple attacks on other brides. Bec acknowledged that some of this negative behaviour displayed on camera may be directly linked to her past trauma.
The Connection Between Past Abuse and Present Behaviour
'When you've experienced abuse, small situations can feel amplified. It's not always about what's happening in front of you,' she explained. Bec added that she struggles significantly with trusting women, given that her abuser was female. 'I've had to ask whether that's connected to my past. The honest answer is, "probably,"' she said. 'I have trouble trusting women as my abuser was a woman.'
Following the explosive dinner party episode, Bec spoke to Daily Mail about having numerous regrets regarding her participation in the show. 'My biggest regret is that this is a show about love and relationships. But what has been shown, instead of beautiful relationships, is drama. And I have a part to play in that,' she admitted.
Professional Consequences and Public Apology
Bec acknowledged that she has substantial work to do in order to make amends with those she has wronged. 'An apology is due to not only my castmates but also to the public watching. There was a group of us creating drama and taking away from the relationships,' she stated. 'You watch MAFS to see these relationships unfold, we are taking it away from them. I feel guilty.'
These revelations come after reports emerged last week indicating that Bec had lost her job due to her appearance on the hit reality series. According to sources, Bec was working in sales for an Adelaide manufacturing firm when management called her in after the third dinner party aired last month.

'They just told her that they couldn't have her there,' an insider told Woman's Day. The source continued: 'They didn't want her to work there any longer, and it was due to what was happening on MAFS and her behaviour.'
According to the report, Bec had discussed her MAFS appearance with management shortly after taking the position, and her bosses expressed concern about the show's potential impact. 'The show had just started [airing], and they basically sat her down and told her that they thought it'd be best for her to come back after MAFS had finished,' the source explained. 'She told them that she needed the job to pay her rent and mortgages.'
Management apparently offered Bec the opportunity to keep her job on the condition that she would not engage in any publicity related to the show. However, the insider revealed that her employers' attitude changed dramatically when they witnessed the third dinner party, where the outspoken bride interfered in other contestants' relationships.
