Love Island's George Knight Smiles After Family Health Scare

Love Island star George Knight has shared a cheerful update with fans after his abrupt departure from the ITV2 villa following a family health scare. The 28-year-old footballer, who was the first bombshell of this year's summer series alongside Yasmin Hadlow, left the show after just six days.

Departure and Explanation

His exit was not broadcast, but producers informed fellow contestant Lorenzo Alessi, who told the group that George had departed and would not be returning. At the time, both the cast and viewers were told it was due to 'private reasons'. George posted a statement on Instagram saying: "Family comes first, always." He later elaborated, revealing his sudden exit was due to "a health concern with a member of the immediate family."

Speaking to The Sun's Showbiz Fix podcast, he explained that producers allowed him a phone call with his parents. "It is all very private. But it was a health concern with a member of the immediate family," he said. "They said they felt like they weren't doing their role as a parent if they didn't let me know. And with what was said, I just felt like it was the right thing to come home."

Post-Villa Update

After his brief appearance on the ITV2 dating sensation, he gave fans an update on life post-villa via Instagram Stories. He recently posted a series of photos of himself with professional fighter Johnny Fisher and influencer Big John, grinning in what appears to be an office environment. The celebrity has been inundated with messages of support following his departure, with numerous fans calling for his return in a future series of Love Island or its winter spin-off, All Stars.

  • "Great contestant. Brought the humour, brains and great clothes! Hope you can return someday," wrote one fan.
  • Another admirer commented: "You were brilliant George, loved watching you, but family always comes first. Sending love and best wishes to you all, please make sure you go back on All Stars maybe?"
  • A third fan expressed: "You held yourself well and were authentic to the 'game' and very emotionally intelligent. I really hope we get to see more of you. The camera absolutely loved you!"
