Love Island fans have expressed their worry about a 'missing' contestant following the most recent episode. ITV's hugely popular reality dating programme is now in its 13th series, delivering more explosive drama and unexpected developments than ever before. This year has also witnessed a minor shake-up in the spin-off programmes that support the main series.
The Debrief Podcast Overhaul
The official podcast that typically accompanies Love Island received a complete overhaul this summer and was rechristened The Debrief. Additionally, it was transformed into a video podcast format, allocated a dedicated slot following each episode of the main programme, and welcomed three fresh hosts. It now broadcasts after Love Island on ITV2 and streams on ITVX nightly from Monday to Friday. Three of last year's islanders, including champion Toni Laites, finalist Shakira Kahn and third-place finisher Yasmin Pettet, were announced as the new presenters.
Shakira Missing from Aftersun
They also feature on the companion programme Love Island Aftersun, which broadcasts on Sundays and is presented by Maya Jama. While they all appeared together for Aftersun's premiere, one member of the trio was conspicuously missing from this week's show on June 14. Within minutes of the episode starting, numerous posts flooded social media asking: "Where's Shakira?" Another viewer commented: "I hope Shakira is alright as she isn't in Aftersun you lot need to stop sending the girls hate for giving their opinions."
Another viewer suggested: "Shakira really needed to be on the #LoveIsland Aftersun panel this week to really discuss the Jasmine and Priya situation. The 3 people on the panel this week aren't capable of having that convo.."
Reason for Absence
It's believed Shakira was absent from Aftersun this week simply due to ITV's policy of rotating guest panellists each week. This implies fans could look forward to her reappearance in the next episode.
Shakira's Recent Activities
Meanwhile, Shakira's recent Instagram activity indicates she's keeping herself quite occupied. On Sunday, she posted some fresh snaps from a recent trip to Italy for an event. She also shared boyfriend Harry Cooksley's post on her stories, capturing his experience at the F1 Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. He was photographed being sprayed with champagne in front of the podium and strolling around the track with a Sky Sports microphone. Whether Shakira attended the race alongside him remains unknown. However, she did comment on the post: "go baby gooo" and added in her story that she was "so proud".
