Lorraine Kelly Confirms ITV Break for World Cup Trip

Lorraine Kelly has confirmed she is taking a break from her ITV chat show to travel to the United States. The 66-year-old broadcaster returned to her programme on Wednesday (June 17), where she interviewed Damian Lewis and discussed Jeremy Clarkson's cancer diagnosis with Dr Amir Khan.

Later in the show, Lorraine spoke about entertainment news with Vogue Williams before revealing her upcoming trip to the US for Scotland's World Cup match against Morocco on Friday (June 19).

Heading Off to America

"I'm heading off," Lorraine said, with Vogue noting: "I've never seen someone so nervous! It's gonna be so much fun!" Lorraine replied: "Is it though, is it? Is it gonna be fun?"

Vogue reassured her: "It is! You're going straight after the show, you're gonna get on the flight, you're gonna have a really good time." She added: "Listen, I know how anxious you are, so I have your World Cup kit." Lorraine admitted she was experiencing "high anxiety."

Vogue unveiled a selection of items to keep Lorraine's spirits high, including Scottish flags, a bottle of brandy, a stress ball, lavender, and a picture of Lorraine with her granddaughter, Billie.

"Well, that's it! Serotonin, a picture of Billie. Thank you, Vogue. I will need every single bit of this," Lorraine said.

Replacement Hosts Announced

After catching up with This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Lorraine revealed that Josie Gibson would be replacing her on Thursday (June 18). "That's all for today. Josie Gibson is hosting tomorrow, see you then!" she said as the show ended.

This marks Josie's first time hosting Lorraine. Additionally, Loose Women star Ruth Langsford will step into Lorraine's shoes on Friday as the host supports Scotland in Boston.

Ruth confirmed the news earlier this week when Loose Women made way for ITV's coverage of Royal Ascot. At the end of Monday's (June 15) show, she said: "That's it for today and this week actually, because Loose Women's off because of Ascot. We'll be back in a week's time. I'm going to be back, actually, on Friday. I'm covering Lorraine on Friday. Loose Women [will be] back on Monday at the usual time of 12.30pm. Until then, have a great afternoon. Thanks for your company, goodbye!"

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1 at 9.30am.
