Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford has announced she has become a great-grandmother. The beloved TV presenter shared the news during Tuesday's (September 29) episode of the ITV chat show, appearing alongside Brenda Edwards, Charlene White and Coleen Nolan.
With a huge smile, Gloria told the panel: “Charlie and his lovely wife Nicole have had a baby.” She described the arrival as “such a joy”, adding: “The growth of the family and new life. I couldn't be happier and I could weep even now. There were tears of joy.”
Super Gran or Super Glo
Charlene was quick to give Gloria a new title, telling her: “Super Gran, I think.” But Gloria had her own ideas about what she wanted the newest member of the family to call her. “I'm not going to be called Great Granny am I?” she joked. “I think I'll be called Super Gran or Super Glo.”
The emotional announcement marks another special milestone for Gloria, who has spoken over the years about how important her family is to her.
Family milestone
Charlie is Gloria's grandson through her late daughter Caron Keating, who was married to television producer Russ Lindsay. Caron and Russ had two sons, Charlie and Gabriel, meaning the new arrival is Gloria's first great-grandchild.
Gloria has remained incredibly close to her daughter's boys following Caron's death from breast cancer in 2004. She has previously spoken about the joy of watching Charlie and Gabriel grow into adults and the pride she feels in the men they have become.
Charlie also made headlines in the family a few years ago when he became engaged to Nicole, with Gloria sharing her excitement about their plans to marry. The couple went on to tie the knot, and Gloria has previously spoken warmly about Nicole and her place within the family. The birth of their baby now marks another generation for Gloria to celebrate.
Four grandchildren
Charlie is not Gloria's only grandchild. The presenter has previously spoken proudly about having four grandchildren – Charlie, Gabriel, Jake and Beau. Her grandsons Jake and Beau are the sons of Gloria's son Paul.
Gloria has often described being a grandmother as one of the greatest joys in her life, and has spoken fondly about family holidays and spending time together. Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
