Liam Payne's family, including his mother Karen, father Geoff, and sisters Nicola and Ruth, have been thrust into the spotlight following the tragic death of the One Direction star. The singer died on Wednesday after falling from the third floor of Casa Sur Palmero Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Karen Payne, a nurse, and Geoff Payne, a fitter, have largely lived out of the public eye despite their son's fame. In the 2013 One Direction film 'This Is Us', Karen spoke emotionally about missing Liam after his rise to fame, saying: 'We miss him. He left home my little boy and became the boy in a magazine.' Geoff also reflected on missing out on 'rites of passage' such as buying Liam his first beer.
Liam's sisters, Nicola and Ruth, have also maintained a low profile but have been supportive of their brother throughout his career. Following his death, the family released a statement: 'We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.'
