Lewis Capaldi, the 28-year-old singer-songwriter who rose to fame six years ago with his chart-topping hit 'Someone You Loved', has often found his personal life in the spotlight. His relationships have occasionally inspired his music, as he has previously admitted.
Capaldi had a brief relationship with Paige Turley, now 28, who later won Love Island. They met at college in Motherwell and started dating at age 19, splitting up when they were 20. Capaldi described the split as 'very amicable'. While his debut album 'Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent' was reportedly about a year-and-a-half relationship that ended when she left him, Capaldi has denied that 'Someone You Loved' was about Turley, stating it was written about his late grandmother. However, he is said to have revealed that 'Hold Me While You Wait' was about Turley, telling a gig audience that she left and he was 'quite sad about it'. Turley later won Love Island with Finn Tapp, and the pair have remained on good terms, with Turley saying in January that Capaldi is 'doing much better' after his break from music.
In 2020, Capaldi was linked to student Catherine Halliday, with reports of a flirty date in Glasgow. However, the relationship reportedly ended after seven months, unable to survive lockdown. A source said Capaldi had 'no hard feelings'.
Capaldi is now preparing for a new tour and will appear on Michael McIntyre's Big Show. He returned to Glastonbury in June after a two-year break from performing.
