Kylie Kelce has publicly invited the Princess of Wales to appear on her podcast after praising her hockey skills, marking another celebrity setback for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
On the Thursday, September 24 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, the 34-year-old mother of four referenced photographs of Kate, 45, playing Shinty, a similar Scottish sport, at a recent event. The former collegiate and high school field hockey player said: "I’m still calling it a win for field hockey because where do you think she got that skill? Yeah, that’s right, she’s a field hockey player."
Invitation extended on air
Kylie insisted Kate’s gameplay should be proof of hockey's overall popularity before inviting her onto the podcast. "Here’s the thing about the sport of field hockey, so Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chitchat about field hockey and kids, we have a couple things in common," she said. "And our husbands chitchatted on the other podcast, so you can come on this one. Just a thought! We’d love to have you, no pressure, please."
Kylie is the sister-in-law of Taylor Swift, one of the most well-connected figures in the entertainment industry. The Telegraph previously reported that Meghan reached out to Swift with a handwritten invitation to appear on her podcast Archetypes, but the singer declined.
Celebrity support thin for Sussexes
Having a showbiz figure embrace Kate comes as a blow to Harry and Meghan, who have been positioning themselves as celebrities since stepping away from their roles as working royals. While their early years in California were marked by high-profile defenders and close industry alliances, recent years have seen public rifts, snubs, and a cooling off from Hollywood’s elite.
Celebrity support has also been scarce since the couple’s return to the UK. Although they have been welcomed by a tight-knit circle of close friends and charitable allies, top-tier UK celebrities have largely avoided high-profile public statements or brand alignment with the couple.
Kelce brothers' royal links
The Kelce family has shown support for Prince William. Jason, 38, and Travis met the future monarch at Taylor Swift's Life of a Showgirl concert in London in June 2024. They later interviewed him for a July episode of their New Heights podcast.
During that interview, William told the brothers: "My family hasn’t got a particularly long history with football, [though] there are a few of us who support teams. My football love came from friends taking me to my first match. At school growing up, you can’t avoid the football chat. It’s everywhere, and some … childhood friends of mine took me to my first game."
