Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have revealed that they suffered a devastating miscarriage, leaving them heartbroken. The couple, who have always been open about their fertility struggles, shared the painful news in Travis Barker's new documentary.
Heartbreaking Loss
The couple learned they were expecting a baby girl in 2022, around six months into their relationship, and had planned to name her Tulip. However, during a doctor's appointment at the three-month mark, they were told their baby no longer had a heartbeat. "When we lost the baby, we were devastated," Kourtney, 47, said in the documentary. "We cried for days."
Documentary Premiere
The couple made a rare red carpet appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York for the premiere of Travis Barker's documentary, Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear. In the film, they announced the sad news and showed footage of their multiple fertilisation attempts. They had previously said in May 2023 that they were 'done' with IVF and wanted to conceive naturally.
Joy After Sorrow
Around a month after ending IVF, Kourtney announced her pregnancy during her husband's concert in Los Angeles, holding up a sign that read 'Travis, I'm Pregnant'. Their son Rocky was born in November 2023. Travis jumped off the stage and ran to kiss her upon seeing the sign.
Blended Family
Travis shares son Landon, daughter Alabama, and stepdaughter Atiana with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler, while Kourtney shares Mason, Penelope, and Reign with her ex Scott Disick. Both have spoken about their love for their blended family. Kourtney once said, "I love the idea of a blended family. I think that the more kids, the merrier."
Fertility Struggles
Kourtney had frozen her eggs before their relationship began in 2020, but most "didn't survive the thaw" and "none of them made it to an embryo." She noted that freezing eggs is not guaranteed, saying, "People do it thinking that it's like a safety net and it's not." The couple also tried extreme methods to improve conception chances, including drinking Travis' semen and vaginal steaming.
Co-Sleeping Revelation
In 2024, Kourtney revealed she co-slept with all her children, with her daughter Penelope sleeping in her bed until age 11. Speaking on the Skinny Confidential podcast, she said, "I think every person's different and every child is different. My oldest son slept with me till he was seven." Her mother Kris Jenner, 70, disagrees with the practice, but Kourtney noted, "She doesn't have to worry about it because it's not her baby and she's done having kids."
