Kevin Webster found himself in a dramatic gun showdown during Tuesday night's episode of Coronation Street. The beloved mechanic, played by Michael Le Vell since 1983, confronted his nephew Carl in the garage, leading to a tense standoff that ended with a gunshot.
Background of the Feud
Kevin has endured a turbulent year, dealing with testicular cancer and discovering that his estranged wife Abi had an affair with Carl, whom he believed was his brother. A major retcon earlier this year revealed that Kevin's sister Debbie is actually Carl's birth mother.
Additionally, Carl was recently injured in a garage accident caused by Tyrone Dobbs. To protect himself, Carl lied to the police, leading to innocent Summer Spellman being imprisoned for a murder she didn't commit.
The Gun Showdown
In the latest episode, Kevin and Carl faced off in the garage as Ronnie Bailey and Tyrone watched in horror. Carl had obtained a gun from dodgy dealer Fiona Morley. The weapon lay on the floor between them after Kevin attempted to hit Carl with a wrench.
Carl challenged Kevin: "Either we fix this... or you pick up that gun." Kevin, believing the gun was fake, picked it up. A violent struggle ensued, and a gunshot rang out. Kevin had pulled the trigger, but Carl dodged the bullet.
Truce and Missing Gun
Later, Carl apologized to Kevin, and the two seemed to call a truce, shaking hands. However, Ronnie and Debbie discovered that the gun was missing. Fiona never received it back. Debbie demanded they find it, warning them of the danger.
Unbeknownst to them, Jodie Ramsey, Shona's mysterious long-lost sister, had found the gun and taken it for herself.
Fan Reactions
Fans took to social media to react. One wrote: "Carl bringing a gun to an argument.. yes only soft b******* do that!! #Corrie." Another asked: "So what’s Jodie planning on doing with the gun then? Is she gonna use it on David if he doesn’t sleep with her?"
A third fan said: "Aw Carl and Kevin making up. Hope Carl sorts himself out for Debbie," while a fourth commented: "A near miss for Carl and Kevin. Oh s*** the gun has gone off!"
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and streams from 7am on ITV X.
