A 39-year-old woman found dead in the Bridgewater Canal has been named as Catherine Sharman, from Lymm, Cheshire. Police believe her death was a tragic accident.
Ms Sharman was discovered in the water near Trafford Road on 30 September, with her bicycle found nearby. Greater Manchester Police were alerted by a passer-by just before 11:20 BST.
Detectives are assisting the coroner to determine the full circumstances of her death. They have appealed for anyone who may have seen her on the canal path that day to come forward.
Ms Sharman's husband, Jamie, described her as having a 'real zest for life' and said she enjoyed cycling, walking, and fitness activities. He said she 'brought happiness to many people' and would be greatly missed.
Det Insp Frank Morris stated: 'We do not believe that Catherine's death was down to anything other than a tragic accident.' He urged anyone who may have encountered her on the cycle path to contact police.
