Kelvin Fletcher's wife Liz faced a nerve-wracking challenge on the latest episode of ITV's Fletchers' Family Farm, confessing she was "doing terrible" as she attempted to master the art of walking a cow. The couple, who have been documenting their journey on their Peak District farm, geared up to showcase some of their livestock at the Royal Cheshire Show.
Liz's Struggle with Cherry the Cow
Liz struggled with the task, admitting to former Emmerdale actor Kelvin: "She was uncontrollable, she was walking me!" During the scene, Kelvin offered guidance on handling a cow named Cherry, though Liz acknowledged feeling apprehensive. "Not much on the farm has made me nervous, but this makes me nervous," she revealed.
The mother of four confessed that the most nerve-wracking aspect was handling the cow in front of an audience. "The thing that is more nerve-wracking than anything, not only have you got to handle the cow, you've got to handle the cow in front of an audience," she said. "I can't embarrass us. I can't embarrass the Fletcher farming name by screaming like, 'Ah!' I genuinely don't want to do it."
Kelvin's Encouragement and Liz's Honesty
As Liz began walking with Cherry, Kelvin encouraged her. She initially had difficulty getting the cow moving and then found it challenging to maintain pace. After she insisted she hadn't been in command, Kelvin tried to reassure her: "I think you're doing yourself a disservice. You are expressing negativity. Let's just think positive."
But Liz responded: "But you have to be real. I can't pretend that that was good. It wasn't good. You've got to be realistic. You've got to know, I like to be realistic. Look, if I'm doing it terrible, I know I'm doing it terrible. I'll get there. But right now, I accept it wasn't great. I will do better next time. But I'm not fantasising that that was good."
Background on the Show
Kelvin, who shot to fame playing Andy Sugden in ITV's Emmerdale, first documented his foray into agriculture in Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure before he and Liz went on to Fletchers' Family Farm. The popular show has now aired four series. Fletchers' Family Farm airs on ITV.
