Kelly Reilly, the actress known for her fierce portrayal of Beth Dutton, has shared exclusive insights into the most demanding aspects of filming the highly anticipated spin-off series, Dutton Ranch. The Paramount+ show, which continues the legacy of Yellowstone, follows Beth and her husband Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) as they start a new life in Texas after losing their Montana ranch.
Collaborating with Hollywood Icons
Reilly expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside legendary actors such as Ed Harris from Westworld and Annette Bening. In an exclusive interview, she described these collaborations as "the gift that keeps on giving," calling her co-stars "masterclass" and "brilliant at what they do." She particularly highlighted a "pinch-me moment" with Ed Harris, who joined the series as a new character.
Embracing the Outdoors
The actress, who has embodied Beth Dutton since 2018, also revealed her love for riding horses during filming. "Being outside on a horse is a moment I always enjoy," she said. The new series features plenty of such scenes as Beth and Rip establish their ranch in Texas.
The Texas Heat Challenge
However, the transition from Montana to Texas brought unforeseen difficulties. Reilly admitted that adapting to the local climate was the toughest part of production. "The heat in Texas was something I had to adapt to," she explained. "We used to film Yellowstone in Montana, where you could get a winter's day and a summer's day in the same day. The weather was always so changeable, but in Texas, the heat is unlike anything I have ever experienced, and the humidity."
She described the physical toll it took on the cast, especially during the first week of filming in August. "We all had heat sickness. We were going home from work and had to stop and we were sick in the car, or just having to get hydration. That was the hardest thing, because it's hard to concentrate when you are that hot."
What to Expect from Dutton Ranch
The nine-episode season promises intense drama as Beth and Rip fight to build a future together while confronting "brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire." Dutton Ranch airs weekly on Paramount+, continuing the epic saga of the Dutton family.
