The former Canadian prime minister, 54, and the pop star, 41, were first romantically linked in the summer of 2025. Their outing at the New York festival marks their first official red carpet event as a couple.

The pair had previously attended a Netflix event in Montecito, California, where they posed for a picture with streaming service chief Ted Sarandos and his wife, Nicole Avant. That event was also attended by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The couple were first photographed together in July 2025 on a dog walk in a park in Montreal, Canada. Trudeau was later seen attending Perry's concert in Montreal.

The dinner came one month after news broke that Perry and actor Orlando Bloom had ended their engagement after nine years together. The former couple share a daughter, Daisy Dove.

Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire, legally separated in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They share joint custody of their three children.
