Princess Catherine reportedly stopped trying to mend the relationship between her husband Prince William and his brother Prince Harry after one event, a royal author has claimed. Prince William, 43, and Prince Harry, 41, have not been on talking terms for some time, with their relationship having turned sour when Harry quit royal life in 2020. This relationship between the brothers then got worse as Harry criticised the Royal Family publicly on many occasions, starting in 2021 with the Oprah Winfrey interview, followed by the “Harry and Meghan” Netflix docuseries in 2022. Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023 was then believed to be the cherry on the cake, with William having had limited contact with his brother since.
It is believed that William’s wife Princess Catherine initially tried to help mend the relationship between the brothers and return it to what it once was. However, a comment Prince Harry made resulted in her pulling the plug on this, according to royal biographer Christopher Andersen. This is the comment that Harry made in 2025 about not knowing “how much longer” his father the King “has left”. This was reportedly deemed “insensitive and hurtful” by Catherine, and resulted in her finally stopping her attempts to heal Harry and William’s relationship.
Speaking on The Royals Uncensored, royal biographer Christopher Andersen said: “We all know that Harry and Kate had tremendous affection for each other, if anything she has tried to mend that relationship over and over again.” He continued: “From what I understood, that last comment that Harry made about not knowing how long his father had to live, it fuelled so much more speculation on the internet and also seemed very insensitive and hurtful.” Andersen said this is when Catherine, 44, stopped trying to help Harry and William become close again.
It is believed that Harry and William have not spoken in some time. While Harry last saw King Charles in September, it has also been claimed that the relationship between father-and-son is also not in a good state at this moment in time.
