Kate Garraway has opened up about her blossoming romance with economist and journalist Liam Halligan, admitting the pair have yet to enjoy a proper date. The Good Morning Britain presenter described the relationship as 'lovely' but expressed caution about jinxing it.
Halligan first addressed the rumours in a column for The Spectator last week, revealing 'there’s a definite spark between us' while noting it was still early days. Garraway told the Mirror: 'We basically haven’t really had time for a proper date! I don’t want to jinx it!'
The broadcaster became a widow in January 2024 when her husband Derek Draper died after a long battle with Covid. The couple had been married since 2005. Garraway documented their ordeal in the documentaries Kate Garraway: Finding Derek and Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story, the latter winning an NTA for Authored Documentary.
Garraway recently appeared on The Celebrity Traitors, which she credited with helping her after 'quite a few years recently of being quite sad'. She told fellow contestants she felt inspired and had laughed more than she had in years.
