Former Big Brother champion Josie Gibson is reportedly turning her back on the glitz of celebrity life in favour of a more grounded existence in the West Country. According to sources, the television personality has moved into a caravan while her £1 million Somerset mansion undergoes renovations, expressing a desire for a "normal" and "stable" lifestyle away from the spotlight.
From Reality Star to Rural Retreat
Josie Gibson rose to fame after winning Big Brother in 2010, subsequently building a successful career on shows like This Morning, Loose Women, and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, where she placed fourth. Despite her high-profile roles, insiders claim she dreams of a quieter life, with neighbours reportedly questioning why she remains in the area when she could pursue a more extravagant lifestyle.
A source told The Sun, "She laughs it off and always says this is the life she dreams of." The report suggests Josie "doesn't care" about fame and instead aims to "settle down with a nice man" and create a secure family environment for her seven-year-old son, Reggie.
New ITV Series and Personal Struggles
Ironically, while seeking to avoid the limelight, Josie is set to star in her own ITV programme, Josie Gibson's Big Country Build. The show will document the renovation of her Somerset property, with assistance from her brothers, Charlie and Josh, and cousin Tom. During the renovations, she has opted to live in a caravan, with the source noting she would "happily live in a caravan forever."
In a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, Josie joked about being "skint" due to the house project and admitted to emotional challenges. "To say my stress levels are up here… [the family] are great, they are amazing, but there are a lot of challenges, let's say. I've had a lot of sleepless nights," she revealed.
Balancing Career and Personal Aspirations
Despite her aversion to fame, Josie continues to work in television to secure a future for herself and Reggie. The source explained that while she does not love the celebrity aspect, "she's not silly enough to turn the money down." Her personal life remains a focus, as she is currently single, having been rumoured to be in a new romance with TikTok star Sam Wolfenden, though he is engaged to his childhood sweetheart.
Josie's journey reflects a broader trend of celebrities seeking authenticity and simplicity. Her move to a caravan symbolises a shift towards prioritising family and stability over the trappings of showbiz, even as she navigates the demands of her career and upcoming television series.
